Build Loyalty with Your List

Building loyalty with the people who have subscribed to your email list is a very important part of your Internet Marketing business, and it’s not hard to do.  You just have to follow a few rules.  List builders who don’t follow these rules usually end up annoying their subscribers and fail to build loyalty among their customers.  Some list builders over-use their list, annoy their subscribers, treat them like they’re not too savvy.  These are good ways to end up with most of your subscribers looking for that “unsubscribe” link.

So how do you build loyalty in your list?  It’s really not hard to make your list subscribers loyal and actually look forward to your next email.  Here are a few simple tips to keep your subscribers loyal.

Don’t over-use your list.  Send emails to your list once a week on a regular basis, preferably the same day each week.  Your subscribers will know when to expect to hear from you, and you won’t annoy them with too many emails.  If you must send an email more than once a week, it should be a “special report” and worth interrupting your regular weekly schedule.  Some list builders are sending emails to their subscribers every day, and sometimes two and three times a day, and all are offering supposedly too-good-to-pass-up products.  This annoys your subscribers, and they start to have those “unsubscribe!” thoughts.

Don’t Lie to Them.  They’ll find out, and then they won’t trust you ever again.   I recently received an email from a list builder:  he said, “this product isn’t available anywhere but here.”  I did a quick search and found the product a number of places offered much less than his “special offer.”   Before that email, I found him to be a helpful and trustworthy marketer, but now I know differently.  Once a subscriber catches you in a lie (even a little one), they will give little regard to your future offers, sales pages, testimonials, etc.  Do be trustworthy and honest with your subscribers.  It’s the right thing to do, AND it will pay off in the end.

Treat Your Customers Like Savvy Customers.  Because they are!  People are smart, they’re surfing the Net, and they’re learning as they surf.  Insult their intelligence, and they will go away as your former subscribers.  The way to build loyalty in your list is to treat subscribers like intelligent people who are looking for the same things you are: Ways to make money on the Internet.  Which brings me to the next point:

Give Them What They Want.  Many of your subscribers are looking for ways to make money on the Internet.  They also want tips on how to use the Internet to their advantage.  Ebooks they can sell and make money with.  Tools they can use to make higher profits.  For tips on how to find what people are specifically looking for, read the article How to Find What People Want so you can give them what they really want.  Do this, and your subscribers will look forward to hearing from you.

The aforementioned tips are some of the ways to build loyal subscribers with your list.   In summary, treat them as web-savvy, intelligent people who deserve your highest respect, give them what they want, and don’t annoy them.  Treat your list as if it is Pure Gold, because it is if you treat your subscribers the right way.
